It just means that if you have 6 or more people in your group the restaurant will just add 18% of whatever the bill was to your bill as a tip for the server... So, if you order $100 worth of food...your bill will be $118. $100 for your food... $18 for the server...they do this in case the group doesn't tip the server very well...big groups are hard work.

It means that if there are 6 or more of you together, an 18% TIP will automatically be added to your bill.

It means an 18% tip will be added to your bill, even if the service is bad, not that it will be, they just want to make sure the waitress gets a good tip for taking care of a table of 6 or more.

If there is 6 or more people at the dinner table an 18% tip will automatically be added to the total amount of the bill. So if your bill is 75.00 you times that by 18% which equals 13.50 So they would add the 13.50 to your bill to make you pay 88.50 altogether

The tip is already built in to the total so there is no need to add an additional tip on top of the bill because it is inclusive. The restaurant obviously believes their staff is automatically worth 18% rather than the standard 15% tip. Either that or they know their staff sucks and if the tip weren't automatically included in the tab they would get nothing at all! LOL! I hope they provided good service because you sure paid for it whether you liked it or not! Honestly, that's not an uncommon practice for restaurants to do for large groups.

An 18% tip was added automatically if your party was of 6 or more.

It simply states that the "Standard" 18% gratuity will be added to the entire bill before you apply the gift card. Unfortunately for some servers customers will use coupons or discount gift cards to reduce their dining bill, which is fair, but not tipping on the original amount of the bill is not. If your bill is $100 and you have a $25 discount your tip should be based on the $100, not $75. PLEASE, for all reading, 10% is, was and never will be an acceptable gratuity in a full service restaurant. the tipping standard is 18% for good service. I'm just hoping Sunset never steps foot into my establishment tipping 10%.

"Gratuity" is the waiter's tip. When you have a large party, you're tip is automatically added to the bill (most restaurants do this). It protects the waiter from working hard on a large party and not getting a proper tip. I hope you didn't leave extra tip for the waiter! You already paid it if you had 6 or more people with you! Usually the waiter is supposed to remind you of the added gratuity when they bring you the bill. Some don't say anything because they're hoping the customer won't notice and they get tipped twice.

When did 15 change to 18 or usually 20? They don't pay the help but know how to spend the customers money. Takes away the whole idea of making them earn it if they make it automatic.

You don't have to pay any gratuity. You are only responsible to pay the bill with tax. Gratuity means tip means gift. You may subtract it if it was added on automatically. Don't let them cheat you. You really do have to read the bill. And the standard is not 18%. It's 10 or 15% -- BEFORE taxes. And it's completely voluntarily.

That means don't leave a tip on the table because they automatically added a tip to your bill. You have no choice but to pay the 18% tip. If your bill for the 6 of you was $50, then they added a $9 tip on the bill. They do this to ensure their waitstaff doesn't get stiffed for all the hard work it takes to serve a big table like that.

if there rae more than 6 ppl in your group, they add an 18% tip. so that means if you paid $100 for your bill of 6 people, the tip would be $18

18% of your total amount has to be given as a tip... Which can really add up.
Ex. Say the bill was $100, your tip would have to be $18. So in total, your paying $118.

It means that whatever the total of your bill is, the restaurant will automatically charge you an extra 18% to cover the tip.
You can tip more if you'd like, but you can't tip less.
