Like "mozzarella sticks with fries", "mac & cheese with fries", "pizza with fries", "grilled cheese with fries", and "hotdog with fries". Why don't they just sell smaller portions of the regular menu items?

Who doesn't like junk food every once in a while? Children don't understand the concept of moderation in the same way that adults do and they certainly don't understand a thing about nutrition. It's up to the parents to teach their kids what to do, but they just want them to shut up instead. It's a bad cycle isn't it?

This is because most parents are not demanding better menu choices. If you DO ASK you usually GET in restaurants because your impression and how they dealth with you is critical to their ongoing success. Ask them for the mini steak or salad or meatloaf and veggies. It costs a little more, but they will accomodate it. If they don't after checking with a manager, get up and go. In America we have a billion choices. A private restaurant is usually a better bet (make sure they are not on a "dirty dining" list, which can be found in your local web page directory under county service bureaus) because they have more at stake to lose. Good luck!!!

It is because it is cheap to make. When you buy something healthy, it is expensive because it takes more effort to keep foods edible without the use of pesticides and such, so you pay for the food, time and labor. And they also put in a lot of additives like MSG in the junky foods to make them taste more appealing and so they, in turn, become more popular. People turn a blind eye to nutrition sometimes, and assume they can still get a substantial amount of nutrients from junk, when really the nutrition dies during the processing.

So, summary: Very cheap, very tasty, very popular.

It's because that's what kids will eat. I also have a proven scientific reason: The older we get the more sensory input we get into our senses. This is why: The older we get the more we like different food, the older we get the more we hate youngster music, the older we get we are able to better smell bottles of wine. Children think that mac and cheese or plain hamburgers taste AMAZING because they can only taste one flavor, to us its bland as dirt, but kids think its awesome and will eat it. It's also cheap for the restaurant to make.

TOO SHUT THEM UP!!! Parents do not control their kids in any situation these days. They are center of attention and honestly....they are BRATTS.....restaurants do not want them there. Smaller portions of restaurant items cost the restaurant money. Want to take your kids out to dinner, don't go fine dining or even medium dining, they don't want it........Burger King and McDonalds are open 24 hours.......I own a bar and grill and don't want them there. Parents don't control their kids these days.
