I haven't gone to a restaurant without my parents yet, but I am going to Red Lobster today with my girlfriend. How do I pay in cash? Do they ask if you will pay in cash or credit? When they hand you the bill do you put the money in it then leave right when you do so or wait for them to come back?

Please help! =)

This is how you pay for a meal:

1. Towards the end of the meal, usually the waiter will come by an ask if you want to order dessert. If you do order dessert, then after dessert they will normally bring you the check and leave it on the table. If you don't want dessert, and are ready to leave, you can just ask "Can we have the check?"

2. When they do bring the check, they will either leave it on the table or hand it to you directly, and then they leave. If you are paying in cash, you just have to place the cash in the folder and leave it on the table (I leave it on the edge of the table, which signals to them that you left payment). You should also leave a tip (15-20%).

If you need change, you just put the cash in the folder. When they pick it up and take it to the back, they will automatically bring you your change back.

Once you leave the payment and tip, you do not need to wait for them. You only need to wait if you need change.

And next time pay attention to when your parents pay!!!

LOL, i'm also goin out with my girlfriend tonight.. but anyway...even though you're younger dont let your girlfriend know that you may not know how to pay for your meal lol. When it appears that you are done eating your waitress may ask you if you would like dessert, after that she will bring you the check and you decide what your preffered payment method is. If you want to pay cash and you have the exact amount.. or if the meal is $35.00 and you want to tip her put two twenties in there and leave at your convenience. If you have the cash to cover it and dont need change is what im saying.. u can just put it in there and leave if you want. if you wanna pay with debit or credit just place your card and check on the inside of the black check holder ( while it's left open so the waitress can tell you want to use your card ) Hope this helps man...confidence is key.

At the end of the meal, they'll ask if you want dessert and if you say no they'll bring the bill. It will come in a small folder. You can leave your cash or card in the folder, and the server will come back by and pick it up. They may ask if you need change; if you have included tip and do not want change, tell them you're good, and at that point you may leave. If you have not included tip, tell them yes, you need change, and they'll bring it back. From there you can leave the tip on the table when you leave if you did not already give it to them. 15% of the bill is standard, and 20% is good. If you have payed with a card, you can include the tip there. You'll write it in on the receipt.

bud its easy you pay the pill and ad 5%-10% tip of your total bill depending on how good the service was. you put it in the bill book they give you and then you are free to go... you can stay and talk or just get up and leave
